INTO THE LABYRINTH
Original Photo Art by Christina
Today’s prompt is GREEN, which happens to be a color I like, one which I use a lot in my photography and art. Here is my contribution, titled “Into the Labyrinth”.
I’ve always been intrigued by mazes, although technically a labyrinth isn’t quite the same. Mazes have twists and turns. Choices must be made. A labyrinth, however, is uni-cursal, meaning it has a single path that leads into the center.
In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth was constructed by a skillful architect named Daedalus for King Minos of Crete. Its purpose was to hold the minotaur, a creature that was half man and half bull. According to legend, Daedalus barely escaped from the labyrinth he had built and was nearly killed by the mythical beast.
The minotaur was eventually killed by Theseus.
Today, the word “labyrinth” has become a metaphor for a challenging situation, or with struggles to “find oneself” through difficult experiences.
